Grand Valley State University's career sacks leader, defensive lineman/linebacker Dan Skuta, signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals following this weekend's NFL Draft.
The Cincinnati Bengals were the only team to run Skuta through some individual drills at Grand Valley State's pro day last month, and it turns out that it was well worth it for one of the more heralded players in Laker history.
Offensive lineman Sam Allen, who was a pre-season top 20 small-school prospect by Josh Buchanan, D2Football.com's small school draft expert, signed an undrafted free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers following day two of the NFL Draft, as well.
Another Laker alum landed on an NFL squad last week as well, when Brandon Barnes signed a two-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts after playing with the Green Bay Blizzard of Arena Football 2.
Other GLIAC players who were awarded free agent contracts following the draft were Hillsdale's Tom Korte (Pittsburgh Steelers), Ferris State's Jake Visser (Houston Texans), and Wayne State's Dante Dunn (Buffalo Bills).
