Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State fifth-year head coach Ric Wesley announced the signing of center Asauhn Tatum (Anderson, Ind./Highland) to a National Letter of Intent to attend and play basketball at Grand Valley State beginning in 2009. Tatum is the Lakers' first signee for the 2009-10 recruiting class.
"We are excited about Asauhn Tatum joining our basketball program," said Wesley. "Asauhn is an extremely talented player that we feel will have the capabilities to make an impact at both ends of the floor," added Wesley.
Tatum (7-0, 210) averaged 11.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots per game as a senior for an Anderson Highland squad that finished 14-9 and claimed the county championship. Tatum led the county in blocked shots and was named Anderson Highland's Most Improved Player for the 2008-09 season. ScoutingIndiana.com ranked Asauhn as the #2 center in the the state of Indiana.
