Partlo Talks Recruiting

Kyle Partlo

Kyle Partlo had a nice camp performance at GVSU a few weeks back. We caught up with the Midland Dow quarterback for the latest on his recruitment and his thoughts on possibly returning to Allendale.

Midland Dow's Kyle Partlo has flown somewhat under the radar the past two seasons despite starting some varsity games as a sophomore.

However, with some nice peformances at camps this summer, Partlo is beginning to receive recognition from colleges and his recruitment is coming into focus.

"Right now, I'm looking to play in the MAC or GLIAC," he said, "in the MAC, Bowling Green, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan are the schools that are interested. In the GLIAC, Saginaw Valley -- I went to a visit already with them and I like what they have going on. They run the same offesne as we do in high school, also Wayne State, Hillsdale, Grand Valley."

Partlo has been to camps with all the MAC schools he listed as well as GVSU's. Each of those schools has something in common: the spread offense.

"I'm looking to play in the spread," Partlo explained, "[The schools] said they like how I run the spread and make plays with my feet. That's where college football is heading, towards the spread."

Partlo currently stands 6'2, 185-lbs, but hopes to be up near 200 when he enters college. That frame combined with his 4.6 speed make him a good candidate to run a spread offense and although his athleticism would also make him a fine fit at other positions, it looks as though he'll stay under center.

"Surprisingly, I haven't had any colleges say that," he said of a position switch, "I would be up for playing any other positions. I didn't play defense last year, but I'll play some cornerback this year."

Another school Partlo enjoyed his trip to was Grand Valley State.

"I liked the camp, like the coaches and the head coach, Coach Martin. After going to camp, I know why they win championships, I like what they're doing and definitely could see myself playing there. They said they want me to come back for some games and definitely stay in touch and send them some senior tape."

While Partlo has yet to receive any scholarship offers, he is working hard to make sure his senior season answers any questions schools may still have about him.

"It's a big motivation knowing everything is still out there, I hope to have a good idea of where I want to play by midseason."
