Friday found Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly back in Grand Rapids, Michigan for the 1st Annual Irish Eyes Golf Classic. The outing, held at Thousand Oaks Golf Club, is part of two days of events that will end with the Laker Turf Building renamed in honor of the former Grand Valley, and current Irish head coach.

Brian Kelly was excited to be back in Grand Rapids, Michigan as his Kelly Cares Foundation was center stage for a golf outing Friday morning. With two of his assistant coaches along for a day of golf, Kelly spoke for a short period to some local media about the importance of the event and about the upcoming season.

The one area Kelly stressed was the importance of the quarterback position in week one.

“We have two quarterbacks right now. The question is, of those two quarterbacks, we have to figure out who the starter is. We have to be who we are from the first game. We can't be messing around with the quarterback position.”

Saturday will find Kelly spending much of his day on the campus of Grand Valley State as the Laker Turf Building will be named in his honor. Following the ceremony, Kelly will head back to the Notre Dame campus for the final hours of the Irish 7x7 event, and possibly the opportunity to speak with a couple of recruits on campus.

IrishEyes.com and Scout.com will be on hand for Saturday's 7x7 event.
